JOB - IMCP Network Coordinator
About the International Mediators Community of Practice (IMCP)
The IMCP provides an informal platform for discussion between mediation practitioners, trainers, academics and providers of mediation support services who actively engage in international third-party conflict transformation, to strengthen our skills and increase the use of dialogue processes in complex conflict contexts. The IMCP is an initiative of Communities in Transition (CIT) who currently coordinates the network.
Internship Description
Communities in Transition (CIT) is seeking an unpaid intern to support the activities of the network. The IMCP is a virtual platform without an office with members from around the world. This is an 80% virtual position that may require 20% in-person participation in DC-based events. Transportation reimbursements will not be provided. The internship will run over the course of 2 semesters and will require 8-10 hours of work per week.
Responsibilities:
- Organize IMCP activities and events
- Support the creation of a connected community using virtual and face-to-face events, trainings and meetings
- Write grants and complete research as needed by IMCP working groups
- Contact members, speakers and guests and network with partner organizations
- Attend all IMCP events and other related events, take detailed notes and report on outcomes
- Assist with administrative duties when requested (scheduling, event coordination...)
- Complete tasks as assigned
Qualifications:

Passionate about mediation, dialogue circles, restorative justice and the conflict resolution field in general
- Must be an excellent note-taker and be able to write strong event summaries (typing speed will be tested)
- Working towards his/her graduate degree in conflict management, international development, law or other related field
- Highly organized, independent, task-oriented and creative
- Quick to respond to emails, complete assignments and able to juggle multiple responsibilities
- Self-started, innovator and entrepreneurial spirit
- Must be able to work flexible hours and be available to attend events in DC
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and from home
- Great networker, strong communication skills and able to interact with members, speakers and guests from a variety of backgrounds and professions
- Able to role model conflict resolution skills in his/her daily life and interactions
- Experience managing networks and facilitating meetings preferred
