About Communities in Transition (CIT)

CIT is a start-up consulting firm created in January 2014 that empowers communities to address conflict-related challenges in a collaborative and sustainable way. The firm currently includes the two mediators and three advisors.

CIT’s activities include: 

  • Conflict analysis: conflict and stakeholder assessments, systems and program design, monitoring and evaluation
  • Conflict transformation: mediation, community dialogue, track-II diplomacy, restorative justice, peace networks, multi-stakeholder engagements, facilitation
  • Conflict management training and coaching: assessment, process design, mediation, consensus building, community dialogues, collaborative advocacy

We are looking for 2 consultants to partner with the founder and help her implement CIT’s strategic vision of providing inclusive, participatory and collaborative conflict transformation processes in complex conflict contexts.

 

 

CIT’s Partnership Model

Our hope is to build a transparent team of dynamic conflict resolution professionals that gain strength from each other. CIT seeks to build a team of conflict resolution experts with equity in the company who will coordinate strategies, discuss cases and projects, brainstorm ideas and share information about potential clients, grants, upcoming conferences, events and trainings in the field of conflict management.

Each partner is responsible for finding his/her own clients.

Cost-sharing and % equity in the company will be negotiated once the team is formed.

Candidate Profile

CIT is seeking two partners to grow and strengthen the work of the company.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and prospect for clients
  • Write proposals, ensuring that proposals meet funder specifications and deadlines as well as CIT’s quality standards
  • Conduct research and create drafts for proposal sections as necessary
  • Coordinate activities with CIT’s founder
  • Participate in all CIT meetings and activities
  • Promote CIT and it’s work
  • Help build CIT’s network of professional business contacts within the industry
  • Monitor and share information about events, news and trainings within the field of conflict resolution with the team
  • Other related tasks, as needed

 

Minimum qualifications:

  • Masters degree and 4 years of relevant experience in the field of conflict resolution
  • Experience in international conflict resolution and international development in an overseas setting
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and risk-taker
  • Demonstrates strong collaborative problem-solving skills when working as part of a team
  • Consulting experience
  • Proven track record of working as a mediator, dialogue facilitator, restorative justice practitioner or other types of facilitations managing high-intensity conflicts
  • Ability to travel internationally on short notice
  • Open to learning new conflict resolution models
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in at least one other language (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in one of CIT’s technical areas (conflict analysis, conflict resolution, and/or conflict management training)
