Senior Mediator

Nathalie is the founder of Communities in Transition (CIT) and currently works as CIT's Senior Mediator. She has over 20 years of experience in the field of conflict engagement, mediating both domestically and internationally.

In 2005, Mrs. Al-Zyoud led a high-level track-II diplomatic engagement in Chad where she helped negotiate foreign policy changes with UN, USG and EU representatives to support the efforts of civil society towards the organisation of an inclusive national dialogue. In 2014, she built an inter-religious peacebuilding platform in Burkina Faso to Counter Violent Extremism and starting in 2015 coached insider mediators in the Central African Republic to mediate conflicts around economic, land, displacements and security issues.

Nathalie engages with people experiencing violent inter-ethnic, inter-religious and/or agro-pastoral conflicts as well as those impacted by workplace, family and community tensions. She facilitates restorative justice and re-entry circles as well as designs and facilitates organizational systems shifts. She is currently working with others on designing a just transition towards a regenerative socio-economic system.

She taught at Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) where she graduated with a Master of International Public Policy. She currently teaches at George Washington University (GW).
