Job Description

Communities in Transition is seeking applications for a conflict resolution curriculum training development expert position. The curriculum will be used primarily in conflict-affected Francophone Africa. The consultant will be tasked to write the following conflict resolution trainer’s manual and participant handouts:

  • Conflict assessment (3 day training)
  • Communication ecosystem (5 day training)
  • Mediation (5 day training)
  • Restorative Justice (3 day training)
  • Re-entry Circle (2 day training)
  • Non-violent communication (1 day training)
  • Strategic communication (1 day training)
  • Social cohesion (2 day training)

The Technical Curriculum Development Consultant will use CIT's existing training material and translate CIT's approach into 8 different courses. Working closely with the CEO and in consultation with CIT’s international staff and past training participants, the consultant will design a highly participative and interactive curriculum (30% theory and 70% practical skills) that will include a:

  • Trainer’s manual
  • Participant’s manual
  • Participant handouts
  • Role-plays
  • Exercises

 

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education or related field preferred.
  • 4-6 year proven expertise in the writing, delivery and development of pedagogical tools.
  • 2 years relevant experience in the field of conflict resolution, restorative justice and other dialogue processes.
  • Experience in international conflict resolution and international development in an overseas setting.
  • Experience working in Africa preferred.
  • Great visual design skills and creative skills
  • Ability to take initiative, problem solve, identify priorities.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Commitment and enthusiasm for the provision of quality, innovative, conflict- sensitive education.
  • Bilingual (English-French) necessary.
