Patara Na Maingo Ti Kodoro
About this Project
Patara Na Maingo Ti Kodoro (PMK), or "Dialogue and Development of the Country" in Sango, CAR's national language, is Bria's local Conflict Resolution Center (CRC). PMK mediated several community dialogues in the midst of continued armed violence and chaotic elections.
Local mediators facilitated conversations between Christian and Muslim leaders to highlight messages of peace from the sacred texts. They helped repair the harm done to a female farmer by the animals of a neighbor. They held a dialogue between economic actors to figure out what to do with the aging bills of customers that are falling to pieces from being continuously manipulated. Several dialogues were also held with IDPs to help plan their return to their home village.
PMK was born out of the passion of CIT's mediators who wanted to continue working after CIT's project in CAR ended. They built a CRC with the financial and technical support of CIT and now continue their work as a self-directed, autonomous country team.
PMK members participate in CIT's Board of Directors meetings where they are able to vote on organizational decisions.
