Privacy Policy

Communities and Transition (CIT) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy summarizes how we collect and process your personal data when you visit this site, including when you create an account, sign up for our newsletters, register for an event or workshop or give us your personal information for any other reason when engaging with us.

Personal data collection and storage

CIT does not require users to provide personally identifying information to access its website and does not collect information during your visit.

Personally identifying information may be required if users wish to sign-up for email lists, register for an event, respond to a survey or other opt-in emails. Information is also collected by joining the International Mediators Community of Practice* (IMCP) or otherwise meeting or engaging with us.

Personally identifying information may include a user’s name, affiliation, job title, address, phone number and email addresses. This information is collected and maintained by CIT in accord with this privacy policy. All personal information is stored securely using MailChimp which meets the security and privacy requirements of GDPR.

We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 without consent.

Personal data usage

Communities in Transition does not sell, exchange or release personally identifying information to any third-party, except to the extent necessary to comply with applicable laws or valid legal processes, to protect the rights and property of CIT or to provide the services or information a user has requested.

CIT only uses your information to communicate program information, organizational updates, event information, and other announcements.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, even if the comment is anonymous, Drupal, CIT's website content management framework, saves commenter info in a cookie. Typically this comment cookie expires in a year. Users should use caution in submitting personal information on publicly accessible sections of the website (for example, in the comments section) as such information is publicly available and may be collected and used by others without our knowledge or consent.

Cookies

If logging in to our website, Drupal uses Standard PHP session cookies so the server knows that your are already authenticated when browsing pages. Without these cookies, you would have to log back in each time you access a non-public page. Typically Standard PHP session cookies expire in two weeks. This technique is used by all sites where you have to log in.

Embedded content from other websites

CIT’s website does include content that contain embedded content, such as videos, images, articles, etc. and external links to other websites not affiliated with or managed by CIT. Users accessing those links should take caution and care to understand the privacy policy of websites they visit.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Your rights to your data

You can request that we correct or erase any personal data we hold about you by emailing us at info@communitiesintransition.com or clicking on the unsubscribe button at the bottom of our newsletters.

Changes to this policy

This policy was last updated in June 7th, 2018.

We may make changes to this policy as needed, and you will always be able to see when this policy was last updated. If we make significant changes in how or why we process your personal data, we will contact you directly with more information. We invite you to revisit this policy each time you consider giving your personal data to CIT.
