Student comments

“The best 2 days seminar I have ever had. I wish I would have another weekend with her. She is great!!”

“Amazing class. My mom is a mediator so it was great to get a somewhat insider perspective.”

“Learned for more than I expected to. Very glad it was a course teaching us how to facilitate the process, rather than just all theory. :)”

“Easily the BEST skills course I’ve taken. I feel I have skills I can apply in my personal & professional lives. Thank you!”

“Thank you for a great course! The role play was very helpful and the inter-activeness of the course was enjoyable. :)”

“I wanted to start by saying Thank You for an amazing class. It was well developed, it covered a lot of information, and it is very useful for everyone. I loved it.”

I enjoyed the class almost as much as the mediation one…the process and its uses is fascinating.”

“I gained immensely from the role play exercises. I’m grateful to have been your student. Keep up the stellar service, Professor!”

“Only comment would be that I wished we all introduced ourselves at the beginning to get to know people/backgrounds before sharing personal stories. I think this adds to being able to humanize people’s stories.”

“I enjoyed the class. It was very interactive and engaging.”

“Excellent learning environment. Open, honest answering questions. Good amount of material for the time allotted. Super fun! Thank you. :)”

“The role-play parts were very interesting and helped students to practice the skills learned in class.”

“Thanks! The insights provided both in the presentation and in the feedback during the role-play activities explained that concepts very well. Loved the interactive format.”

“I think it would be better if the professor could show us some video clips about one real restorative justice dialogue.”

“Prof. Al-Zyoud accomplished a great deal over the course of two short days. She kept the material fresh and engaging. I really appreciated her authenticity and passion for restorative justice. Thank you!”

“Loved the role playing! It helps put into practice what we’re learning. More role play = more learning! THANKS!”

“Really enjoy prof’s method of teaching. Despite it being a weekend class, was not dreggy at all. Took as class with for the second time, and still learned so much more.”

“I would include more detailed information about potential triggers in the syllabus if possible (e.g. “things that have come up in the past have included…”) as I didn’t appreciate the extend we would be discussing child sexual abuse. I would also include warnings in some other area (e.g. course description or email intro) as the syllabus might not be viewed until shortly before the course. I did appreciate your sensitivity to the heaviness of the triggers, but the first day was intense. I also greatly appreciated your attention to pronouns.”
