CIT brings together passionate individuals with a heart for peacemaking and resolving today's toughest human security challenges. CIT's Board of Directors meetings are open to all CIT members and everyone present participates in the decision-making.
The following are basic principles for working together when in the same geo-location or across our distributed cooperative.
Conflict is everywhere so find activities that recharge you and allow you to bring your best self to work. Keep things in perspective when the unexpected happens; we will work it out as a team!
Remember that we each have something to offer. Share your knowledge to build your teammates' skills and abilities. Push them to reach their goals. Be open to learning as much as you can from others.
Remind yourself that we are all working towards the same goal of creating a more peaceable world, even when we have different ways of getting there. Don't let different communication styles or competing solutions take your eyes off of our shared objectives. When we make mistakes, remember to separate impact from intent.
Take pride in crafting the best experience for those we serve. If things are broken, gather your teammates to fix it. If you see an opportunity, collaborate and seize it!
Make the effort to listen and understand others. Be curious. Learn the why, not just the what. Show kindness and value different perspectives, experiences, and ideas as though they were your own.
Create open and transparent lines of communication; the voice of a few may be the thoughts of many. Make time for self-awareness so you can share authentically. Remember Communities in Transition is a safe space to express your reflections, concerns, and ideas.
