Ali Mahamat was born in Bria, Central African Republic, on November 22, 1979.

A religious leader, Ali is also local mediator in his hometown. He was mediating informally when an opportunity to work for USIP opened up and gave him the opportunity to express his commitment towards peace in his community.

He was trained and joined Communities in Transition in 2018 where facilitated multiple community dialogue processes between armed and non-armed parties.

In 2019, Imam Mahamat opened his own conflict resolution center, CIT-Bria, which he now runs.
